Data retention decided

The minimum retention period for traffic data has been established

Today, October 16th 2015, the SPD and Union (CDU/CSU) parliament passed a bill on data retention (linked PDF file is in German) in Germany. No further changes were made to the bill by Justice Minister Heicko Maas (SPD): According to the bill, existing data will be held by telecommunications providers for ten weeks.

IPv6 and DNS leaks: Perfect Privacy users are not affected

In a recently published security paper researchers reported about potential data leaks with VPN providers by the means of IPv6 and DNS. The report included a review of 14 VPN providers where the researchers tested their methods. While Perfect Privacy was not among the providers being tested we would still like to respond to this paper and explain to Perfect Privacy users if they are at risk and what to do about it.

VPN server in London now with 1Gbps bandwidth

The two VPN servers we had in London (United Kingdom) with 250Mbps bandwidth each have been replaced by one server with 1 Gbps. The server has 12 IP addresses available. Since the IP addresses have just been relocated to the United Kingdom, it is possible they are shown as being used someplace else still.
